Welcome to Elbgalerie Hotel GmbH
Elbgalerie Hotel GmbH stands as a noteworthy choice for travelers seeking a clean, affordable, and practical stay in Hamburg’s vibrant HafenCity district. With a respectable rating of 4.1, this hotel offers spacious and modern rooms that provide ample storage and comfort. Guests consistently highlight the cleanliness and the generous bathroom spaces, which are equipped with all essentials, including towels and shower gel. This attention to fundamental guest needs reflects a solid commitment to hospitality.
Located at Billstraße 28-30a, the hotel benefits from proximity to key local attractions such as the Elbphilharmonie, the Maritime Museum, and sprawling harbor walks that showcase Hamburg’s maritime heritage and natural beauty. Although it doesn’t offer air conditioning or a swimming pool, Elbgalerie compensates with practical amenities like free Wi-Fi, parking, and room service. Family travelers appreciate its kid-friendly atmosphere, the availability of free sweets for children, and the generally warm and helpful service from the family who runs the hotel.
However, some concerns are worth noting to maintain a balanced perspective. There have been rare but significant issues reported, such as bed bug encounters and occasional cigarette smoke odors, which impact the overall guest experience. Additionally, some guests mention discomfort with heating during colder months and inconsistencies in Wi-Fi quality. The absence of certain conveniences—an iron, airport shuttle, or on-site restaurant—might influence travelers who seek full-service accommodations.
Despite these drawbacks, Elbgalerie reflects an authentic, no-frills experience aligned with its affordable price point, making it a practical option for budget-conscious visitors who prioritize location and cleanliness over luxury. The hotel’s approachable staff and easy access to public transport hubs add further value. While the breakfast offering could be enhanced, the overall ambiance resonates with those who appreciate honest, straightforward lodging in Hamburg’s cultural heart.
In summary, Elbgalerie Hotel GmbH embodies functional hospitality with a touch of familial warmth, serving as an efficient base for exploring Hamburg's maritime scenery and urban culture. Its strengths in room size and cleanliness, paired with thoughtful, personal service, provide a compelling reason to consider this hotel for short stays. It encourages a balanced expectation: affordable comfort, essential amenities, and a genuine local atmosphere in one of Germany’s most dynamic port cities.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a single room. Hotel is affordable with price range around 60-80 euros per night (feb. 2024). Room is spatious and clean with enough room to store luggage. Bathroom is really big and clean too with shower, toilet and mirror and sink. You will definitely have a good stay here. Beds are comfortable enough, though in winter i prefer little bit warmer blankets. Staff is friendly and in lobby you can get a variety of drinks, including wine, beer and a few cocktails for reasonable prices. Solo rooms do not have a door towards the bathroom. Some things to be aware of when bookin this hotel: - Room has no (small) safe to put in personal belongings - There is no kettle for some tea or coffee on the room - There is no airconditioning on the rooms, but there is a window that will open. Location: Location is not ideal. Its outside the city centre. Nearest S-bahn stations are Elbbrücken, Hammerbrook and Rothenburgsort, all in about 10-15 minutes walking from hotel. Alternatively you could take bus 3 from Billhorner Brückenstraße towards Stadionstraße (every 10 minutes - feb. 2024)
Great to walk to from the rail or the bus. Rooms are comfortable and cheap. Creepy electric mirrors above headboards. Annoying light all night. Not worth the money for breakfast unless you're really lazy. Left luggage available. Good stay.
Rooms are super spacious and modern but unfortunately we found bed bugs in bed. When we noticed the staff they didn’t apologize or said anything regarding the situation.
Stayed here for 3 days. Family, that run this hotel, were very friendly and helpful. Room was perfectly clean. But it was a bit cold, especially in the bathroom- I guess here the fees for heating are quite high shouldn’t forget they had tough time during this pandemic. The only problem that should be fixed: Sometimes it smelled like someone was smoking in the building it shouldn’t be like that in a hotel
The staff was friendly, the room was clean, bright, and warm. There were towels in the room, and shower gel was provided. The only downside was the bad internet connection; the Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. I liked in general , and I recommend this hotel.
It was a good place to stay. Clean and comfortable. Neither the room nor reception had an iron, though, which wasn't great. Also, the location isn't great, but it is in walking distance to the U-bahn.
I was staying here for a few days and everythink was fine. Room service was good, reception was always ready to help me or give me an information what i was needed. My room was small but clean and comfty.
Good price, didn't speak English unfortunately but we got through OK. Place was easy to find and staff were very helpful. It was clean and Tidy. Fine for kids. TV had nothing for them tho. Only stayed overnight before coming home but would use again for sure. Gave us a free nap of area and marked things for us. Can't ask for more. Oh free sweets for kids was nice at the desk.
